Rosie Is Flying High! As some of you may know, Under 17 throws maestro, Rosie Thompson is also a member of the RAF’s Air Cadets. Each year she manages to combine her interest in the Armed Forces with her love of athletics in the Air Cadets’ Track & Field Championships. Last year she was their national shot and discus champion, and things are looking rosy for Rosie again this year! As in junior athletics, the age group straddles two years, and this year she’s in the lower year of her new age group – but that hasn’t held her back. Last weekend she took gold medal in both events of the regional trials, once again qualifying for the national finals. Excellent work, Rosie, well done….. and good luck for the finals!
George Packs A Punch! Under 15 Harrier, George Peacock, has been showing his strength in the boxing ring again recently. If you don’t know George, he is one of those young men that can turn his hand to pretty much any sporting activity he chooses to take part in, and he’s certainly turned a few heads since becoming a member at Barnard Castle Amateur Boxing Club. His most recent success was a closely fought bout, which could have gone either way, but in the end, the judges decided that George had done enough to become the Lonsdale Boxcup Champion 2018. Nice one George!
Liam Runs For Charity Junior Harrier, Liam Brittle, will be running the Durham 5km again this year, helping his Mum raise money for a very worthy cause; the IF YOU CARE SHARE FOUNDATION
