Under 15 Junior Harrier, Liam Brittle, certainly showed us what he’s made of on Saturday. Not only was he the youngest competitor in the race, taking on mainly adults, but it was the first time he’d run a 10k competitively! The Lightwater 10K Challenge was a multi-terrain race taking you around the Lightwater Valley Theme Park and into the surrounding countryside. It was a combination of flat and undulating pathways, following countryside, gravel tracks and offroad running.
The event was due to take place a few weeks ago, but was postponed due to all the snow. This time conditions were perfect. Liam worked really hard and produced a very impressive performance, finishing in 11th place out of the 186 taking part! He crossed the line in a time of 39:57 (less than a minute behind DHAC endurance king, Phil Teece!) Not bad for your first 10k! Well done, Liam, a fantastic effort!
