On Sunday 16th April, the club hosted the fifth edition of the annual event held in memory of Kieran Maxwell. Kieran was a much loved member of our club who unfortunately passed away in June 2017 of Ewing Sarcoma, aged 18. Click HERE to find out more about Kieran and his story.
Once again the event was held at Middlesbrough Sports Village with over 300 athletes entered, raising around £2,800 for the charity.
As well as our competing athletes today, some club members showed support for the event through volunteering in various roles, from event organisation, officiating and supporting on field events. Huge thank you to all who helped deliver a successful day – Mark Tallon, Tom Andrews, Tom Addison, Andy Harrison, Amy Pickworth, Ashton Harrison, Lucia Florian-Tallon, Gillian Buckley, Claire Rutter, Brian Burdon, Sarah Johnson, Robin Rutherford, Trevor McDermot and Lindsey Lester.
In total the club had 51 athletes competing on the day across all of the age groups and covering most of the events.

For most of the athletes this event acted as their season opener and a chance to dust the vest off and see the fruits of the winter of training. An exceptional start to the outdoor season and a great event all round to support a fantastic charity and keep the memory of our friend Kieran alive – huge thanks to all the organisers, officials, athletes and supporters.
Next up our Junior Team (U13, U15 and U17) have their first league match of the season at Shildon on Sunday 23rd April closely followed by the first North East Grand Prix of the year at Jarrow on Wednesday 26th April.
