The Kieran Maxwell Memorial Open was once again the North East Outdoor Track and Field season opener, held at Middlesbrough’s Sports Village. The annual event is always well supported by clubs across the region, raising awareness and vital funds to support research into Ewing’s Sarcoma and other childhood cancers, in memory of Darlington Harrier’s former youth athlete, Kieran.
Thanks to all volunteers, organisers, supporters, coaches and athletes from across the North East for making the event a success and also to Penny I’Anson for stepping in at late notice to photograph the morning session.
There was a fantastic turnout of athletes on a breezy but generally fine day. Some great performances across both track and field made for a very promising start to the season, well done everyone!

If any PB information above is incorrect, please let us know. Some younger athletes competing today do not yet have Power of 10 accounts set up, so it is difficult to know if they have competed before or set any PB’s previously. Please contact your child’s coach if you need any assistance setting this up, although it can be done through this link: https://www.thepowerof10.info/user/newuserform.aspx
Next up is NEYDL Meet 1 at Shildon Stadium 2000 next weekend – A fantastic team event for those who will be competing or supporting for the first time! We look forward to seeing everyone there!
