Understandably, the turnout was lower than normal for the third NYSD fixture. Sandwiched between the North Eastern Championships the weekend before and the next NEYDL match the weekend after, many of our juniors decided to take a well earned rest. There were, however, a few who still couldn’t resist the draw of another competition, so here’s a brief run downon how things went…..
Under11 Girls It was nice to see Lottie Graves back again for another NYSD track meeting. She had an excellent run tonight in the 600m, showing confidence and determination to finish in an impressive4th place, in a time of 2:07.1. Great work Lottie!
Under 13’s Girls On the track we had Savannah Tarn doing her stuff. Savannah has just moved up to Under 13 this season, but already she has proven her potential as she develops into a cracking little athlete with a very bright future ahead. Tonight she ran the 800m in style, finishing in 4th place with a new PB of 2:52.3. Well done Savannah!
In the field events was one of our athletes who’d taken part in the N/E Championships, Tori Buckley. Tonight she thought she’d try something different – the Discus – and as we’ve come to expect from our little all rounder, she was pretty good! Tori finishedin 2nd place with a best of 13.98m – not bad for a first attempt. Well done, Tori.

Under13 Boys For the boys, Jack Johnson was in action in both the 800m and the 200m. Jack has also just moved up to Under 13, so this season is more about his own personal times than placings as he battles against the older athletes. He had an excellent run in the 800m finishing in 10th place with a new PB of 3:17.4. The 200m was his official debut at the distance, finishing in 6th place with a time of 39.4s. Well done,Jack, keepup the good work!
Under15 Boys Just a couple of days after competing at the N/E Championships, Dylan Wilson was back for more! He opted for the 800m tonight, again, against the older competition. He pushed hard and had an excellent run, and as he crossed the finish line he was only a couple of seconds off the PB that he’d set at the weekend. It was 6th place tonight in 2:32.0. Great effort, Dylan, well done!
Under15 Girls Someone who’s thrown the Discus a few more times than Tori, is Lily Thompson who was in action tonight. She put in some great throws with her best tonight only a fraction off her PB. But an excellent 2nd place nonetheless, throwing 21.60m. Well done, Lily!
Under 17 Girls You rarely find one Thompson sister without the other, and it was the same tonight as Rosie Thompson was competing in the Discus as well. She was a little off her PB tonight but a strong performance as usual. Like Lily, she also finishedin 2nd place with a best on the night of 24.04m. Well done,Rosie!

Top marks to all our juniors competing tonight. As always,a fantastic effort from all.
