It’s time for another update from endurance coach, Bernadette Caygill, on how some of her junior protégés have been doing. Plenty of impressive performances worthy of a mention.
Here goes…..
Dan Richardson won the Under 13 boys 1500m at the NYSD and, in doing so, improved his own club record, running 4:51.1.
Dylan Wilson was 3rd improving his PB to 4:53.6 – a day after breaking the Year 7 boys Darlington Town Sports record!
Another PB for Ashton Harrison in the same NYSD race, 5:21.7, with Louis Brett close behind in 5.23.3.
Harry Wilson just got under the 11min mark for the first time in the 3000m, running 10:59.7.
Libby Hammond also ran in the 1500m (Under 13 girls), running 5:43.6, which is 0.2 seconds slower than her PB but none the less impressive, as she had just raced, and won, the postponed Tees Valley Cross Country (Year 6 girls), the day before.
Alex Boyer was a very close 2nd at the same event, just losing out in what was a very exciting sprint finish.
At last weeks NEYDL, Catherine Roberts ran a great 1500m, winning comfortably with a PB of 4:44.3, which incidentally is also within the English Schools’ qualifying time, which she has also achieved in the 3000m
Well done to everyone on their performances
