Harriers Fly On Home Soil

Today saw the annual Darlington 10km race, and for a nice change the weather was kind to the runners with cool conditions and even a little bit of light rain to keep runners cool.

For those who haven’t ran the Darlington 10km before, this race starts behind Boyes leading up to Stanhope road and on to Woodlands Road, Carmel Road, Coniscliffe Road and back onto Stanhope Road to begin a second lap, before bringing runners along Skinnergate and a sprint finish on high row if you still have the legs! It’s quite a quick course but a course which you have to work hard at, with a few long drags and of course the undulation of Carmel Road.

Some outstanding performances from Darlington Harriers members. Paul Allan once again was top dog finishing 8th in a new personal best time of 32:53 and Louise Talman was 3rd lady in 38:38, but all the way through the field a number of athletes achieving personal or seasons bests and first time 10km runners. No matter what your time or finishing position, it’s brilliant to see so many Harriers wearing the club vests and representing the club or supporting the runners around the course.
