Harriers dominate at Awards night

Fantastic night at Darlington Sports Winners Scheme tonight at Darlington College on Wednesday night. Darlington Harriers collected the Over 17 Club Award as well as the Brian Jones Award which is given to the club of the year. Ian Barnes was presented with lifetime achievement award as well as Service to Sport Over 17 Award.

Alex Boyer won Primary Sports Achiever as well as the Rob Lewis Award for his performances in running and biathlon in 2017. Kieran Maxwell’s mum Nicola received the biggest cheer on the night as …she was presented with a special achievement award for Kieran’s Legacy. Former Harrier Layla Bell won the award for secondary Schools and further education sports achiever. In addition to this Helen Bowles, Harry Singh and Angela Ritchings were nominated for Service to Sport.

I would say a pretty successful evening for the club and one which represents the hard work and efforts that everyone puts in competitions and behind the scenes.

Big thanks to the move team for arranging the evening and sponsors Sherwoods, Mayors Charitable Fund, The Rotary Club of Darlington, Tees Valley Sport, Cleveland Bridge, Capita, Cummins, Paul Bielby’s Master Skills Academy and Darlington Borough Council as well as the College for hosting the event.
