Janice Foster headed to West Witton in Richmondshire to take on a tough fell race this week. West Witton Pen Hill Fell Race is a traditional Dales fell race which takes runners through some fantastic views. The juniors and seniors actually start in the same group before splitting into two race, the seniors taking a route that sees runners rise up the shoulder of Pen Hill before continuing onto the summit of Pen Hill, before a steep descent, across Flints Lane, and back to finish at West Witton Playing Fields.
The route is actually only 5.7km but as you can imagine, with any fell race it’s not exactly flat! Janice did excellent finishing 24th from a small field of 28 in 61.32 but 3rd lady on the day.
