Wednesday evening saw an actual race take place at Redcar, held by New Marske Harriers. This was one of the 5km coast road races which had been stripped back to a 3km race – with runners going in 10 second intervals.

John Russell was first of the Harriers to finish in a fantastic 8.57, finishing 3rd overall…not bad for a 16 year old! Anyone who has seen John’s progression along with his brother (Adam) and that group of juniors will not be surprised by this result at all.
Sue (12.42) and Martin Phillips (12.47) along with Iain (13.59) and Laura Girard (17.06) also competing on the evening in windy conditions with a few other Harriers giving the event a miss.
