Geoff Capes was a former British shot putter, strongman, and competitor at the Highland Games. Geoff was a double European indoor champion and picked up four additional medals in these games in his career and a bronze in the outdoor competition in 1974 in Rome. In addition to his European successes he also was double Commonwealth champion in 1974 and 1978.
Capes is the most capped British male athlete of all time, receiving 67 International caps, and returning 35 wins, not including a further 35 caps for England. He is a winner of 17 national titles including being 7 times a winner of the AAA championship and three times UK champion.
