Virtual Relays

Event organisers have had to get their thinking caps on over the last few weeks on how to provide a ‘virtual’ version of their particular event, rather than cancelling it altogether.  Basically, competitors would run the event locally, adhering to all the social distancing guidelines required, then submit their results to the organisers for comparison with other competitors’ results.  Obviously everything relies on the honesty of the athlete, so as times can’t be verified nothing will be recorded on Power of 10 – but at least it’s a way for certain events going ahead and athletes still enjoying one form of competition!

Several of our juniors were pleased to take part in a couple of virtual competitions recently and a big thank you goes out to Bernadette Caygill who’s managed to compile the results for us, so here’s how they got on: –

Next up, our juniors teamed up with some of the seniors for the “Not Actually Coatham 1 Mile Relays.”

Teams of two battled it out, albeit virtually, with each athlete completing a distance of 1 mile.  Below you can see the times for the juniors: –

Some excellent times from our juniors who certainly held their own up against the seniors.
