Under 13 DHAC team mates, Libby Hammond and Harry Lyons were both in action last week at the Cleveland Schools County XC Championships.
Having qualified from the previous round in early December last year, they were both representing Stockton Town today in the ‘Junior’ Year 8/9 categories.
Both young athletes are in Year 8 so had a lot to do against the older competition!
In the girls race, Libby started well and kept up with the leading pack, finding herself in 6th place after the first lap. She pushed hard and managed to gain a place on lap 2, finishing comfortably in 5th place.
Similarly, in the boys race, Harry, as always, looked strong from the start, keeping himself in contention for a place in the County team. Another excellent performance brought him home in 5th place as well.
Congratulations to both Libby and Harry; they will both go on to represent Cleveland at the Inter-Counties Championships on 8th February.
Next weekend it’s Durham’s turn with many of our juniors running for Darlington Schools, so good luck to them all!
We’ll let you know how it goes.
