Trevor Mitchell was our only competitor at the Leicester Festival taking part in the Half Marathon event. The race starts and finishes in Victoria Park, just outside the city centre. The route has an initial downhill run for the first mile, running straight through the city centre and heading out on miles 2-6 which are all relatively flat. Following Leicester’s Golden Mile all the way to the top end, reaching Watermead Park before back on a relatively flat stretch until runners get to a short uphill and downhill around mile 8.
Re-entering the city following paths along the course of the canal down through Abbey Park, runners then head back into the city centre through miles 9-12 which are relatively flat through Highcross and straight down High Street before eventually turning up the idyllic New Walk before a final hill to push up until we finish back at Victoria Park. On the day Trevor finished the half in 691st position in a time of 1.52:06.
