This years Cleveland Way Relays were completed at the weekend, with some excellent performances through from our very own Harrier contingent who finished 7/18 overall. Thirty eight teams took part in this years North East XC Masters race, a race which took place at Thornley Hall Farm, Peterlee. The race covers a 3km route across cross country terrain and this year due to the dry conditions the ground was very hard underfoot with lots of ‘ankle breaking’ divets around the
Saturday saw a handful of our club runners at Albert Park for the mornings 5km races, event put on by North East Project. It’s great to see some races back on to get the competitive juices flowing again. In race one, Lee Johnson blew the competition away finishing in a new personal best time of
Event organisers have had to get their thinking caps on over the last few weeks on how to provide a ‘virtual’ version of their particular event, rather than cancelling it altogether. Basically, competitors would run the event locally, adhering to all the social distancing guidelines required, then submit their results to the organisers for comparison
The Endeavour events are getting very popular with the local club members with monthly alternate events from 1 mile to 5km. But that’s what’s been happening up and down the country as Storm Dennis and Storm Ciara battered our shores…..and the after effects have been horrendous; with record floods throughout the land there were question marks over whether the Nationals would be another casualty
