We had a handful of our runners in action at the Osmotherley 20km race today. There are 2 distances, the long route of 20k and the short route of 12k. Both provide significant a challenge to those who like off-road, mixed terrain running. The area around Osmotherley provides some amazing running terrain, which this event
We had another big turnout at the very popular New Marske 5km road race, a race which attracts personal best hunters as this is the flattest course you will ever find. Sharon Barlow first across the line with a very impressive sub 17 minute run. Full results can be found here Place Name Chip Time
Sunday also saw a handful of Harriers head to Melmerby for the mornings 10km race, a race which takes place in the scenic village, not exactly flat this one but the undulation makes it interesting. This week saw the annual NYMAC relays, the 4 x 1mile event around Stewarts Park in Middlesbrough which is always popular amongst the running clubs. Another excellent night with loads of great performances throughout the club. Full results can be found here
Wet would be the best word to describe this event. The Sunderland Run events are always exceptionally well organised, probably something to do with Steve Cram having a major part to play in affairs but one thing that could not be organised is the weather. The midweek Summer Coast 5km race at Redcar always brings out some great performances from runners, weather is generally better around this time so you don’t normally have the concern of winds on the sea front. Sunday saw the final cross country event at Richmond, with the senior ladies team still with an opportunity to win the league after another strong campaign. The U13 boys and girls won their leagues as did the U15 girls with Harrier men an excellent 4th. The big guns were out on the day with Georgie
Friday night saw a huge turn out at the annual clubs presentation evening at Central Hall Dolphin Centre. A fantastic night for the club rewarding many of our athletes for some incredible performances over the season.

A few hours after finishing Vale of York Half marathon, Simon Rogers, Paul Cook and Sharon Barlow were back in action at the Thirsk relays to support the team at the first Cross Country event of the season. A great turnout across all age groups on the day. Full results can be found here

This race is similar to January’s Brass Monkey where the course is predominately flat with a few slight inclines along the route but nothing that should worry runners. The rebirth of the Darlington Harrier Senior section at the Darlington 10k 2015. A year earlier only 12 seniors turned out for the home race to around 70 a year later. New Marske was the venue for tonight’s 5km race with another good turnout from the senior runners. On a good night for racing, Simon Rogers was first home in an excellent 17.26 for 20th place, with Sharon Barlow only five seconds and two places behind to finish 2nd lady just missing out on first place
Paul Cook, Sharon Barlow and Corinne Murray decided the previous night to head south to Yorkshire for a run out at the Yorkshire Wolds Half marathon, a race described as a scenic and challenging course through the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds.
