Last week we had two athletes complete the Virtual Race to the Stones. Under normal circumstances, Race to the Stones is a 100km ultra marathon along one of the oldest trails in Britain – The Ridgeway, which crosses North Wessex Downs and the Chilterns. Lee Hammond was taking on his second marathon of the year, right on target for his marathon a month challenge. This time it was the ‘It’s Grim Up North Pateley Pie n Pint” marathon. Lee said the conditions were very muddy and had some great support from club members to help him round. Of the
Lee Hammond is undertaking a challenge this year to run a marathon each month starting this month in Gloucester raising money for the Rose Education Foundation. (see information below). Two of our club runners were in action at the Hamsterley Trail Half Marathon earlier today. This event had a bit of everything for the competitors, great views, hills, trail paths and even a trip across the freezing cold water… What more could you wish for?
