Tonight saw a number of our club runners at the Muddy Road 3 mile race. New to Muddy Roads this 3 mile trail is mainly flat and fast, with a challenging climb and a little cheeky one at the end, with plenty of horses in the surrounding fields some maybe tempted to hitch a ride!
Darlington Harriers will have a record-breaking 10 young athletes at the English Schools Cross-Country Championships. Nine of them will be representing County Durham, the biggest-ever club representation. Today saw a large turnout of Harriers in memory of Gavin Duffy, the Billingham Marsh Harrier who’s life was tragically cut short while Gavin was in his prime. Great to see so many clubs coming together to support. Full results can be found here

There was another large turnout at this years Darlington 10km race, a race which sees runners racing from the back of Boyes completing two laps of a 3 mile route before turning onto Skinnergate and onto High Row for a finish in front of everyone’s friends and families. We had another good turnout at the midweek Locke Parke Pie and Peas 5mile race, a race which sees competitors complete 5, 1 mile laps around the flat and fast park. Shaun Marshall was first home for the club in 13th place in 31.13, Louise Talman first lady and 2nd overall in 33.11 in 23rd

Summerhill Country Park Hartlepool was host to the 5th Fixture of the NYSD Cross Country season. A testing course along with a cool wind provided excellent racing conditions for the athletes with some tricky sections for the runners to tackle, as Peter Armstrong nearly found to his cost. Sunday saw the first full distance Cross Country event of the season, taking place at Whitby. This is a great race with a mix of trail and predominately grass around the course and one steep hill which when the weather is bad, a rope is placed on the hill to assist people to the top….three
