Event organisers have had to get their thinking caps on over the last few weeks on how to provide a ‘virtual’ version of their particular event, rather than cancelling it altogether. Basically, competitors would run the event locally, adhering to all the social distancing guidelines required, then submit their results to the organisers for comparison
Sunday saw the annual McTaggart Trot, an event which sees runners placed in teams of three (one 3.7mile runner, a medium paced 7.5mile runner and a longer distance runner covering 11 miles) who have to run through each checkpoint together, losing one runner at each point leaving the longer distance to the finish. Saturday saw the seniors with 3 teams at the Signal Relays, Hetton. These relays are made up of teams of 4 for women and 6 for men, covering around 2.2 miles per leg. Our ladies team came in 43rd overall on the day with our Men’s teams 6th and 34th. Impressive running by everyone who
