Saturday 26th September saw us host the second of our Back To Track events, this time with races over 100m and 800m and a Shot Put competition. 13 of our Senior athletes competed across the afternoon, with some outstanding performances and a good number personal bests. Sunday saw the annual McTaggart Trot, an event which sees runners placed in teams of three (one 3.7mile runner, a medium paced 7.5mile runner and a longer distance runner covering 11 miles) who have to run through each checkpoint together, losing one runner at each point leaving the longer distance to the finish. Last week we reported that we had runners at the Dalton Park 10km race. Results have now been released with Tony Williams finishing in 46:16 for 38th position and Anneli MacKenzie-Brown crossing the line in 57:21 for 120th. Good running by you both!
Anneli MacKenzie-Brown took a last minute dash to Murton, to take on the ‘accurately measured route’ around Dalton Park.This Summer race is a replica from the February race. Although official results have yet to be released Anneli finished her 6.3 10km race in 57:23.Well done Anneli.

On Sunday another race to take place further north was the North Tyneside 10k, one of the most scenic running events in the UK, the route takes in a working Fish Quay, the River Tyne, Tynemouth Priory and Castle, and a long stretch of coastline before finishing at St. Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay. On a cold Sunday morning over 150 people gathered at the annual McTaggart trot, the 10th occurrence of this race. Teams of three headed out to complete the slightly amended 11 mile course due to thick ice, all in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice. Brilliant event, always good to see club and non club runners
Another race to take place this Sunday was the Guy Fawkes 10mile race, a hilly course with plenty ups and downs to keep runners interested. After some guy started the race the Harriers who were sixteen strong took on the course. Well done all runners
A number of Harriers were first to kick of the weekends activities in Amsterdam, as they took on the marathon. On Sunday morning on home turf, the Darlington Harriers were out in force as nearly 200 club runners pulled on their club vest to run in both the Darlington 3k and 10k races.
