Saturday morning saw the return of the clubs South park 20 mile race, a race which was originally scheduled for March 2020 but pushed back to today to align with London, Manchester and York Marathons. The race consists of 20 1 mile laps which on paper sounds horrendous but in reality it’s quite good as it allows runners to practice their fuelling for a marathon as well as receiving support on every lap.
I need to call out the fabulous job done by all of our supporters on the day, some brilliant marshalling and encouragement from our team and an even bigger shout out to our time keepers who were manually capturing each runner as they completed one lap….not an easy task but one which somehow these guys and gals did superbly. Huge thank you to each and every one of you for making this a success as without you this could not have gone ahead.
On the day it was Thames Hare & Hounds runner Jack Blaiklock who blew away the competition and finished in an incredible 1:51:55 smashing the previous best set by some margin. The combination team of Elvet Striders and Sedgefield Harriers were first across the line in the relay event with a combined time of 1:54:11.
