Ladies 2nd claim at XC opener

Harrier ladies had a fantastic opening race to the cross country season at a wet and muddy Acklam.

Ellie Phillips put in a superb performance to finish 8th ahead of mum Sue Phillips 11th and Auntie Linda Noble 16th with Pauline Brown and Megan Noble fighting it out for 28th and 29th places. Millie Grayson making her debut ran alongside Sarah Guy to finish 37th and 38th with experienced campaigners Diane Jones 45th and Lesley Miller 54th. Catherine Anderson making her debut at the young age of 62 finished 69th ahead of another two debutant Emma Campbell-Critchley 75th and Claire Atkins 82nd who both had excellent runs.

In the men’s race the ‘White Kenyan’ Paul Lowe finished in an excellent 6th place with Paul Allan seven places behind in 13th. Simon Rogers back in competitive action finished 39th, Barry Talman following him in 47th with Andy Campbell-Critchley making an excellent debut to finish 59th. Phil Teece and Paul Cook who both fell on the course struggled round in 73rd and 74th respectively with Dave Mckenna 87th, Andy Harrison 104th and Kevin Wilson beating Carl Eddon to the finish to finish in 11th and 111th.

Mark Tallon was next home in 126th ahead of debutant bother Paul Dunne (129th) edging John Dunne into 134th with Graham Garvey 137th ahead of Ian Brown 155th, David Ralph 166th, Wes Atkins 167th, Tai Charlton 180th and another debutant Tony Roberts 185th leaving the men’s team 5th on the day. Good work everyone!
