Junior Harriers Shine At Local Charity Run

Hundreds of smiling faces gathered at South Park, Darlington on Wednesday night ready to do their bit for the Children With Cancer Charity. Athletes of all ages and abilities, and all shapes and sizes lined up to either run, jog, plod or walk their way round the 5k parkrun circuit. Yes, even we were there and definitely fell into the “plod” category; we didn’t find it too demoralising being lapped by several of our juniors (honest!)

In fact, our Junior Harriers really stood out from the crowd, and we were incredibly proud of them all. Here’s a few faces you might recognise…..

And they’re off: Our juniors couldn’t wait to get going! One grown up was overheard saying, “Ha! All these young ones at the front – give them a 100m and they’ll all be shattered!” I think he’ll live to regret those words!

An excellent night was had by all, and while the emphasis was on ‘fun’ and raising money for a worthy cause, there were still some impressive performances from our juniors. Huge thanks to Paul Cook and his team for organising the night, and to Karen Harland for the use of her photos (click here for loads more photos, click here for the full results
