One of the first races back after lock down took place on Sunday 30th August – the Stanhope 10 Miler – and two of our athletes took part.
Hilary Bevan and Dana Birkett finished the punishing 10 miles in around 2 hours 17 minutes.
The race is in aid of the charity ManHealth which gives men support and advice in managing their mental health.
After a circuit around the showfield to lure you into a false sense of security, the run heads up the infamous (killing me) Softley Bank. Total elevation was over 1000ft over the ten miles. Challengers were rewarded with a certificate confirming they conquered the beast, along with a local ale and a water bottle.
The route was stunning and both Hilary and Dana are counting it as their new favourite race. A wonderful welcome back to the world of racing.
Tickets for next year go on sale in February.
