Saturday was the culmination of a lot of hard work, and what’s been an exceptional cross country season for Junior Harrier, India Pentland. Just a couple of weeks ago she won her first National medal whist representing the North East of England, then after another terrific performance last week finishing 5th in the English Schools Inter-Counties (featured earlier), she finally got the opportunity she so rightly deserves; the call up to run for England in the Home Countries International.
India ran in the third race of the day in the Inter Girls age category. She was one of a team of eight top England athletes competing against the same from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In a race that was dominated by the England team, India produced yet another outstanding performance, finishing the 4.5km circuit in 5th place, the 4th English girl to cross the line in an excellent time of 16:50. On top of that, the England girls were the clear winners in the team event. Congratulations, India, a fantastic result! You’ve done your country proud
With her positive attitude, hard work and determination, we’re confident India will soon be back in the England vest….and beyond that? Team GB is just around the corner! Way to go, India!! A true inspiration to our junior Harriers.
