John’s a Record Breaker

Sunday saw the annual Brass Monkey Half Marathon take place in York, a race renowned for it’s flat and fast course and a big attraction for personal best hunters, along with those runners who want an early baseline of their fitness. …and this year is pretty early with only 12 days passing since the New Year.

Once again the Harrier crowd did not disappoint.

John Clifford was first Harrier home finishing in an impressive 1:12:41, breaking his own V45 Half Marathon club record which he set at great North Run in September.

Following him home was Paul Allan, who finished in 1:13:47, very impressive!

Shaun Marshall was third Harrier home, breaking his own personal best by a few seconds in 1:19:02.

Further down the list, Karl Hume was another runner to benefit from condition’s on the day to break his personal best finishing in 1:25:24, finally getting his finger out after several attempts.

Pauline Brown finished 2nd in her age category and Shirley Gibson once again qualified for GB masters team after outclassing her competitors in her age group, finishing 1st.

Some terrific results right the way through the field, with no doubt some personal bests not mentioned or known here.

Congratulations to you all.
